PHOENIX — Police identified the man who died after getting stuck under a large, fallen palm tree on Thursday afternoon.
Phoenix police officers responded to an injured person call near 16th Street and Dobbins Road in south Phoenix. When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as 27-year-old Ryen Zehner, stuck underneath a palm tree. The fire department responded and cut the tree to free Zehner, but he died at the scene from his injuries.
Preliminary information suggests Zehner was walking in the park with another person when the tree fell on top of him. Police said the other individual did not suffer any injuries.
