TEMPE, Ariz. — A 60-year-old woman clocked in for work at a Tempe Wells Fargo building on Friday and never went home. Her body was discovered at her desk four days later, according to information released by the Tempe Police Department.
Several sources who work in the building have spoken with 12News on the condition of anonymity due to the fear of retaliation. Those employees said that Denise Prudhomme was found on the third floor, in a "remote" part of the building.
Sources said several employees worked in a remote setting and it is not known how many people were on the third floor in the days after her death. After the weekend, however, people in the building started to notice an odor.
"Monday we came to work and they were reporting of a smell," a source said. Workers said it was thought to be a plumbing issue.
The sources said it is hard to believe she wasn't discovered sooner.
"It really blows my mind that no one seen this woman," an employee said.
Several sources also told 12News they are concerned with how the area was cleaned and said no professional cleaning crew was called to sanitize the area.
"It makes you have so much anxiety," an employee said. "You don't know to be mad or sad-- it's not your family member nor did I know this person but to know that I work in this building and to know that this is a company that I like working at and it's how it's handled things, it's not right."
A cause of death is still pending. Tempe police said it does not appear as if foul play is involved. They denied a request for an interview, stating they have released all of the information they can at this time.
Wells Fargo released a new statement which says, in part:
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague, Denise... we are in contact with her family to ensure they are well supported during this difficult time."
