PEORIA, Ariz. — Crews have recovered the body of a missing swimmer who went under the water at Lake Pleasant and never resurfaced, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
At about 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, 25-year-old Byron Garcia-Perez went under the water as he was swimming about 100 feet from the shoreline. Just before midnight, the man's body was recovered in about 9 feet of water.
No foul play is suspected and the incident remains under investigation. MCSO said this is the 13th drowning reported this year in lakes and rivers patrolled by the agency.
