TEMPE, Ariz. — An attempted traffic stop ended with a crash and one person in custody, according to the Tempe Police Department.

Officers tried to stop a car in the area of Baseline Road and Hardy Drive Monday evening, however, when officers tried to approach the car, the driver took off.

Officers did not chase the car but found it a short time later when it crashed into another car a short distance from the initial traffic stop.

Both the driver of the car from the traffic stop and the car that was hit suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to officers.

Hardy Drive was closed by the crash and is expected to re-open in the next 30 minutes.
