PHOENIX - The Arizona Department of Public Safety has a new tool for its counter-terrorism team, ready to add some fluff to the tough situations DPS detectives face.

A 2-year-old golden retriever named Fallon has been added to the team at the Arizona Counter Terrorism Intelligence Center. Her job is to calm stressed-out employees who can become fatigued from the high-stakes and graphic nature of the work.

"She is trained to engage a distressed person, getting their attention and giving them a much-needed emotional break from their work," DPS said Friday in a release. "In addition, Fallon can assist detectives looking for hidden storage devices containing crucial evidence in a criminal investigation."

Fallon came to Arizona DPS by an organization called the 100 Club, which supports public officers. She was previously with Power Paws, a group that trains assistance dogs to work with disabled people.

Two troopers with DPS have special handler training for Fallon, who will be officially introduced Tuesday at a press conference.
