Homicide investigation underway after man's body found at Papago Park

Homicide detectives responded and are now in charge of the investigation, which is pending the results of an autopsy.

PHOENIX — The area near Papago Park was shut down for hours after a body was found there Thursday morning, according to Phoenix Police Department officials. Officials said due to "elements" at the scene, this is now a homicide investigation. 

Officers responded to Papago Park at 7:30 a.m. for reports of an injured person, officials said. When officers arrived, fire department crews were already on the scene and found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Homicide detectives responded and are now in charge of the investigation, which is pending the results of an autopsy.

No cause of death has been released.
