Man's body found after Phoenix firefighters extinguish fire on roof of medical building

A small fire was reported on the roof of a medical building on August 5. Firefighters later discovered a man's body.

PHOENIX — A small fire reported Monday afternoon near Dignity Health St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center has resulted in Phoenix police opening a death investigation.

The fire occurred on the roof of an outpatient medical office building, not owned by Dignity, located near the hospital and was quickly extinguished by firefighters.

After putting out the fire, firefighters discovered a man's body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Phoenix police said the incident remains under investigation but indicated nothing suspicious about the man's death has been discovered.
