DEA agents raid Phoenix LA Fitness gym

A north Phoenix LA Fitness gym was the site of a search warrant served by federal drug enforcement agents early Friday morning.
Several federal DEA investigators could be seen passing in and out of the LA Fitness gym Friday morning.

A north Phoenix LA Fitness gym was the site of a search warrant served by federal drug enforcement agents early Friday morning. The gym is located at 22nd and Northern avenues in Phoenix.

Drug Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations Agents were seen removing boxes of evidence from the gym. Gym members also posted to social media, saying the agents were focused on the juice bar inside, called Boost-NRG.

LA Fitness gave 12 News a written statement saying:

"The juice bar at our Phoenix Northern club is independently owned and operated by William Thorng, not us. We have an agreement with Mr. Thorng which allows him to use a small portion of the club to provide juice bar services. Of course we take this very seriously and are investigating it as well."

According to the juice bar's website – William Thorng is an amateur bodybuilder who owns the bar with his wife.

Agents were also seen at a business near 19th Avenue and Peoria, removing boxes of evidence, industrial equipment and other materials.

A spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Administration's Phoenix office declined to comment on the presence of the agents. Several could be seen carrying out boxes labeled "DEA evidence."
