PHOENIX, Ariz. – The young daughter of a man murdered in the triple homicide and Phoenix Amber Alert case this past weekend shared memories of her dad as the search continued for the suspect and two young boys.
Kimberly Gonzalez was setting aside a few dollars here and there. She and her dad had plans for a trip to Las Vegas, but Kimberly said that money was now going towards her father’s funeral.
She was too crushed Monday, to talk about the last time she saw her dad, Omar Gonzalez.
Phoenix Police said Gonzalez and his roommate, Oralia Nuñez, were murdered Saturday morning. The third victim was Nunez’s unborn child.
Investigators named Dimas Coronado as the suspect in the triple homicide.
“Sometimes I really wish it’s not true,” Kimberly Gonzalez said.
Kimberly Gonzalez lost her dad at just 11 years of age.
The two got to know each other better over the last couple of years after Omar Gonzalez moved to the Valley.
Omar used to live in Rocky Point. That's when he gave his only daughter a keychain that read in Spanish, “No importa la distancia siempre estoy contigo,” which Kimberly translated to, “It doesn’t matter how far we are I’m always with you.”
Those who knew Omar Gonzalez told 12 News he was just renting a room at the home where his body was found and did not have any romantic relationship with the woman killed in this case.
They said he was planning to move out in a month because of death threats from Nuñez’s jealous husband, who she was separated from, and is the suspect in the triple murder.
Monday, only memories could close the gap between this father and daughter.
"He would like me to get good grades and each time I would actually get good grades he’d celebrate me, like take me to eat,” she said.
Dinner dates and soccer games with someone she could trust. A friend is how Kimberly remembered her father.
“He was a great dad,” Kimberly said.
The families of both victims want to return the bodies to their parents in Mexico. You can click here to help Omar's family with funeral costs.
