Emergency crews rescue woman who fell down well in Chandler

The woman reportedly fell about 15 feet down into the dry well, officials said. The person was conscious, injured and alert, fire officials said.

CHANDLER, Ariz. — A woman is injured after falling down a well in Chandler, officials from the city's fire department said.

According to the Chandler Fire Department, emergency crews were on the scene of an empty field near Arizona Avenue and Pecos Road Monday morning. A woman reportedly fell roughly 15 feet down into a dry well in the area, officials said. She was conscious, injured, and alert, fire officials said.

The woman was eventually lifted out of the dry well with technical rescue equipment and taken to a local trauma center by ambulance for evaluation.

Officials said later Monday that the woman fell into the well at some point overnight. She reportedly had a cell phone with her and called for help Monday morning.

It was not immediately known how she fell, why she was in the area or the current condition of the woman.

This is a developing story. We will update as more information becomes available.
