Crash on Loop 202 in Mesa leaves 2 dead, DPS says

Officials said that some of the fatalities in the four-vehicle crash may involve children.

MESA, Ariz. — Two people, possibly children, have died after a four-vehicle crash on Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway in Mesa, officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed.

The crash happened on the highway near McKellips Road Wednesday morning. Details about the crash are limited at this time.

ADOT has closed the westbound lanes in the area and drivers are being routed off the highway at Brown Road. There is no estimated reopening time.

DPS is conducting a criminal investigation into the crash.
