Man dead after overnight crash in north Phoenix

Police said that the driver stayed on scene and they don't believe impairment was a factor in the crash.

PHOENIX — A man has died after crash in north Phoenix overnight, city police said.

Officers were called to an intersection near Cave Creek Road and Peoria Avenue for reports of a "serious vehicle collision" around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

When they arrived, they found an injured man lying in the roadway. First responders pronounced him dead on the scene.

According to police, the driver involved stayed on the scene of the crash. Investigators don't think they were impaired.

The investigation is still underway and police expect to have more information later today.
