AVONDALE, Ariz. — A woman has died after a crash at an Avondale intersection Monday morning, city police said.
The crash happened around 7:10 a.m. at the intersection of Central and Western avenues. Two vehicles, each occupied by a lone driver, were involved.
One of the drivers, a 62-year-old woman was taken to the hospital where she later died of her injuries, police said. The other driver, a 19-year-old man was uninjured in the crash.
The intersection is closed as police work to learn more about what led up to the crash.
At this time, authorities have not mentioned any contributing factors such as alcohol or speed.

ADOT offers driving tips on its website to help keep people safe on the road.
"There’s always room for improvement when it comes to road safety," the department said on its website.
ADOT's suggestions include:
Don’t speed or drive aggressively
Never drive while under the influence of substances
Avoid distractions while driving
Wear your seatbelt and make sure all passengers are doing the same
When an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, move over
Stay extra aware in work zones
Be prepared for weather conditions that make driving dangerous
