3-year-old dies after being pulled from backyard pool in Peoria, police say

First responders performed life-saving measures when they arrived at the home but the child died at a local hospital, officials said.

PEORIA, Ariz. — A toddler died in Peoria Friday after being pulled out of a backyard pool, officials with the Peoria Police Department said. 

Officers with the department were called to the area of 91st Avenue and Deer Valley Road for an "unknown problem" and found the child unresponsive.

First responders performed life-saving measures when they arrived at the home but the child died at a local hospital, officials said. 

Detectives responded to the scene to investigate what led up to the drowning.
