CHANDLER, Ariz. — Two of the victims of a car crash in Chandler on Saturday morning have been identified as 9-year-old Ilai Petersen and his father Aaron, according to a spokesperson for the family.
The spokesperson said Ilai and Aaron were coming from a festival just down the street from the intersection of Price and Ray roads when the accident happened.
Chandler Police said two cars collided in the intersection around 10:30 Saturday morning. One of those cars was turning left when they crashed. One of the cars then went onto the sidewalk in the intersection where it struck Aaron and Ilai.
Ilai was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital, where he died. Aaron was also taken to the hospital and treated. The family spokesperson said he was released.

A child died following a car crash in Chandler, police said.
Chandler police officers responded to the area of Price and Ray roads on Saturday morning regarding a crash that involved a car and pedestrians. Three pedestrians were involved, police said.
Two of the pedestrians hit by the vehicle were a 9-year-old boy who died from his injuries and a man, who was transported to a trauma center. The third pedestrian was not transported and refused further treatment, police said.
Police did not give information about the vehicle and did not release the identities of the pedestrians.
