One-year-old dead after drowning in bathtub, police say

Medical personnel pronounced the child dead earlier today.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — A child has died after being found floating in a bathtub unresponsive, the Avondale Police Department said.

Officers responded to a call near the intersection of West Adams Street and South Fairway Drive regarding the one and a half-year-old, saying the child wasn't breathing, police said. The child was rushed to a local hospital where medical personnel pronounced the child dead.

Detectives have reportedly been called to the residence where the incident is currently being investigated.
