SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Scottsdale Fashion Square is getting a luxury makeover.
Developer Macerich announced plans Monday to enhance the high-end shopping mall.
According to a release, the “phased project” will include renovations to the "luxury wing" creating a "striking new entrance and arrival point, two-story storefronts, and exterior-facing retail buildings and restaurants."
Also part of the current development plans are new restaurants and food choices for visitors.
The goal, it appears, is to improve the luxury shopping experience.
Additional amenities for visitors are expected to include a "dedicated" luxury valet with private lounge, personal shopping experts and style consultants -- among other aesthetic improvements, according to the plans.
Construction is supposed to begin in 2017 with a planned opening for fall 2018.
Macerich also plans to add high-end residences, office space and a new hotel just north of the mall -- reaching from Goldwater Boulevard to Scottsdale Road.
"The luxury renovation and added mixed-use elements will complement key investments in other aspects of the shopping center, including refinements and updates to the contemporary wing anchored by Nordstrom," a release read, "and the property’s entertainment/young fashion wing anchored by the new Harkins Theatre."
