Two organizations are collaborating to combat hunger: Celebrity Fight Night (an organization that supports the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center) and St. Vincent de Paul (an organization dedicated to feeding, clothing, housing and healing those in need).
"This water truck is a small donation in comparison to what St. Vincent de Paul does every day," said Jimmy Walker, founder of Celebrity Fight Night, "for the men and women on the streets who are struggling to survive in the Arizona heat this summer."
The truck loads up every morning at 8 a.m. and travels to a different area of the valley depending on the day. Joseph Yaniz drives the truck.
"Today we are in the East Valley," said Yaniz as he passed out backpacks to the Guadalupe community. "These people show a lot of respect and we give them what they need, within reason."
Yaniz services about 150 people everyday.
"I'm doing the Lord's work," he said. "It's sad to see individuals out there hurting in their time of need and it's a great thing to go and do this outreach to them."
