Paulina Bustamante, recreation coordinator for the City of Phoenix, said this year they're expecting anywhere between 40 to 80 thousand people.

"We have a whole kids area where we're going to have water slides, inflatables, activities for the kids," Bustamante said. "We're also going to have Cars Land, so there's going to be a whole show of low riders that's coming through, and they're also going to be featuring the El Valle car from the Phoenix Suns"

Bustamente said with the triple-digit temperatures they recommend bringing water and other items to keep cool.

"We definitely have doubled up the water stations that we have," Bustamante said.  "However we are, we are reminding everyone to bring their own water as well, cooling towels, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses in order to protect themselves from the sun."

Bustamante said entertainment will include local and national talent, as well as food vendors and a veterans village area.

"There will be PD on site and security on site as well to support the event," Bustamante added.

Bustamante also shared there is no public parking and that they encourage people to take the light rail or other public transportation to get to the event safely.

Food vendors will be at the event but according to the city, no ATMS will be available so plan accordingly.

Eventgoers are allowed to take coolers but other items are not allowed at the event including:

  • Alcohol
  • Pets (service animals permitted)
  • weapons
  • fold-out tables
  • personal fireworks
  • barbecue grills
  • glass bottles
  • laser pointers
  • skateboards
  • inline skates
  • kites
  • Fishing is not allowed

The City of Phoenix also said anyone carrying items in is subject to search.
