Driver rescued from Chandler pond after vehicle crashes into it

The incident happened Wednesday near Queen Creek and Dobson roads. Driver is in the hospital receiving intensive care.

CHANDLER, Ariz. — A driver crashed into a pond in Chandler Tuesday afternoon, prompting a water rescue, according to officials.

Chandler police confirmed one person was rescued from the vehicle. The individual was taken to the hospital and is receiving intensive care, police said.

Video from Sky12 showed a vehicle floating in the middle of a pond near Queen Creek and Dobson roads.

Sky12 also captured video of a person being taken away on a gurney.

Police said a tow truck was used to remove the vehicle from the water.

Police said the crash appears to have been the result of some sort of medical issue.
