PHOENIX — A shooting Wednesday afternoon, which involved agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency, is being investigated by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Supervisory Special Agent Jodie Underwood with the Phoenix Division of the DEA said in a statement.
"DEA was conducting a law enforcement action in Phoenix that resulted in a shooting incident with a suspect," the statement said. The agency said it would not comment further on the active investigation.
Phoenix police blocked off a pharmacy in west Phoenix after the shooting, with several officers responding to the scene near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road.
The man who was shot had critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital, Phoenix police said.
Other details were not released by police.
