BUCKEYE, Ariz. - Jesse Wilson repeatedly tried to walk away from his home in the middle of the night, according to newly released documents from Buckeye and Avondale police.
Wilson, 10, has not been seen in more than a month after his mother said he left the house in the middle of the night. Searchers have not found any sign of him since that night.
According to police reports, Crystal Wilson used a type of harness when she lived in Avondale to keep Jesse and his siblings in their room. Avondale police had come to Wilson's home to check on the children after a caller told them she feared one of the kids was being starved.
Avondale police found all of the kids in good health and not in danger. Crystal Wilson told police Jesse repeatedly managed to figure ways around the locks she put on the doors and windows.
In April, 2016, Jesse escaped again, apparently opening a window and climbing down from the garage. A neighbor found him in the street and took him in until police could find his mother and bring him home.
According to police reports, Jesse was apparently already dressed for school at 4:30 a.m. when he left through the window.
Buckeye police have said they no longer believe Jesse is alive and the search effort has now become a recovery effort.
