A bomb threat cancels classes at a school in Avondale on Monday morning.

School officials made the decision after Estrella High School received an anonymous, threatening phone call before school started. Sgt. Brandon Busse with Avondale police said the unknown caller told school staff there might be a bomb on campus.

Police were called immediately to investigate. Busse said nothing was found. However, the school made the decision to cancel classes for the day.

"The safety and security of our students and staff is at the forefront of all we do," wrote School Leader JD Corey in a statement. "We will resume classes tomorrow, Tuesday, August 25 as scheduled."

Police are continuing their investigation to determine who the anonymous caller was.
