Phoenix fire finds 1 man dead on hiking trail

Phoenix fire responded to reports of a person with an unknown injury on a hiking trail in north Phoenix on Sunday morning.

PHOENIX — A man was found dead on a north Phoenix hiking trail, the city's fire department said.

The Phoenix Fire Department was dispatched around 8:15 a.m. to the Circumference trail in north Phoenix for reports of a person with an unknown injury. 

When firefighters made contact with the patient, they discovered he was beyond resuscitative efforts. 

Technical rescue team members will assist the Phoenix Police Department with the body recovery effort and the police will conduct an investigation, the fire department said.

Phoenix fire added that police are performing a death investigation and that the death is not believed to be heat-related.
