Bicyclist fatally hit in Sun City

Authorities said deputies were called out to the area of 99th and Olive avenues around 9:15 a.m. on Saturday.

SUN CITY, Ariz. — A bicyclist has died after being hit by a vehicle in Sun City, according to authorities.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has identified the person as 71-year-old Claudia Farkas.

Deputies were called out to the area of 99th and Olive avenues around 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, where it was determined Farkas had been riding a bike before she was hit.

Farkas was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The vehicle's driver stayed on the scene following the crash, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash remains under investigation.
