Arizona State University has canceled its annual Undie Run, or the "ASU BB (Bras and Boxers) Run" as it has recently been named.

According to The State Press, the charity event has been canceled due to lack of funding. It was scheduled to be held Friday, May 1.

The Tempe Undergraduate Student Government (USG), decided to take the group's funding away at a meeting in April.

USG President Cassidy Possehl cited "a bad image" as the reason for not supporting the event.

"Having this party paid for by the University and seeing those photos on the Internet cheapens the value of our degrees," she told The State Press.

The ASU BB Run's Facebook page posted a message saying "It is with a heavy heart that we announce there will be no BB run this year."

The traditional run has been held at ASU since 2008, taking place after the last official day of classes.

Students from all campuses would gather in Tempe wearing clothes they were willing to donate, then donate two cans of non-perishable food, shed their clothes at the start line and run across campus.

The clothing items were donated to local Goodwill stores, while the food items went to help organizations like Andre House of Arizona.

According to the event's website, in the six years that it has taken place, the BB run has donated 44,000 pounds of clothing and 10,000 pounds of food to charity.
