PHOENIX - In the Valley of the Sun, shade is a hot commodity.
As residents know, it can be difficult to find, especially when you're waiting for the city bus in 100-plus degree weather. But four Arizona State University students are about to change that.
Industrial design seniors Ethan Fancher, Dan Duquette, Derek Smoker and sophomore Erlend Meling are going to make riding the bus in Phoenix a lot cooler. The four ASU students' designed a new-look bus stop which, according to ASU Now, will be installed by the City of Phoenix at 400 bus stops.
The four won a contest open to industrial design students at ASU. The focus at the center of their design: providing enough shade.
"The team ran the design through a computer simulation of 12 hours of sun," ASU Now wrote. "It provides shelter at any time of day, when the sun is at any angle."
The city tweeted saying the new design was going to make Phoenix a "better place."

According to ASU Now, the city has a five-year plan mapped out to install their design.
