BUCKEYE, Ariz. - There were roughly 15,000 people without power in the Buckeye and southwest Valley near Gila River Monday morning, according to APS.
Storms rolled through the area around 9 p.m. Sunday night and knocked down several power lines and power poles. Buckeye fire officials said there were also fallen trees, structural damage to homes, and two mobile homes that were flipped over.
APS said there were about 20,000 power outages statewide Monday morning, all related to the monsoon.
By 10 a.m., APS said it was down to 1,500 customers without power, which won't be restored until the evening.
Officials are setting up hydration and cooling centers for those in need. Coyote Library, located at 21699 W Yuma Road, was the first location, Buckeye fire said.
