PHOENIX — A 31-year-old man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly attempted to steal a Phoenix ambulance with a patient and paramedics on board.
Jaysun Smith is accused of jumping into a parked ambulance near 3rd Avenue and Jefferson Street at about 2:30 p.m. and driving for about 400 feet before he was pushed out of the driver's seat by a firefighter on board, court records show.
The defendant then ran from the area and was arrested by police officers a short time later.
He was booked into the Maricopa County jail on pending charges of kidnapping and vehicle theft.
