A New Leaf accepts new donated Toyota Highlander

The services of A New Leaf include emergency shelter, supportive affordable housing, domestic and sexual violence support along with a variety of other services.

PHOENIX — The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Valley raffled off a new Toyota Highlander LE during their last fundraiser in September.

The lucky recipient was another nonprofit organization called A New Leaf, also located in the Valley.

The group is so excited to receive this new car. Kelly Whalen shared with 12News that this gift is certainly going to go a long way.

"The tickets for the raffle were donated to A New Lead from State Farm ahead the telethon, which we were so grateful for," Whalen said.

The services of A New Leaf include emergency shelter, supportive affordable housing, domestic and sexual violence support, financial empowerment, behavioral and primary health care, foster care, early childhood education and family support.

"We have 37 programs across the Valley, A New Leaf's services improved more than 25,000 lives last year," Whalen said.

Whalen said the donated vehicle will be put into service at A New Leaf's Faith House Crisis and Transitional Shelter in Glendale. It serves women and children fleeing domestic violence and other crisis situations.

"There's something so exciting about how the sequence of events has worked out, all of these amazing partners and programs who already know about A New Leaf, so we're so thankful for the car giveaway," Whalen added.
