PHOENIX — A crash in west Phoenix sent several people to the hospital Monday evening, including two children and a teen girl.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. near McDowell Road and 51st Avenue in west Phoenix. Two cars were involved and two people had to be rescued from the vehicles, Captain Todd Keller, public information officer with the Phoenix Fire Department said.
The collision involved an SUV and a Jeep. Police said a family of five, two adults and three children, were in the Jeep. The family was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV sustained critical injuries.
Phoenix police said the driver of the SUV was going west on McDowell Road when he lost control of his vehicle and went into the eastbound lanes and collided head on with the Jeep. Impairment is unknown for the driver of the SUV. There were no signs of impairment for the driver of the Jeep.
The crash remains under investigating.
