MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — Over 6 million digital books were borrowed from the Greater Phoenix Digital Library consortia in 2023, according to a report from OverDrive. The eight library systems in Maricopa County that make up the GPDL rank #11 worldwide for digital checkouts using OverDrive's Libby app.
The Libby app allows patrons to borrow books digitally. All Maricopa County residents can access digital content for free with a valid library card and a compatible device.
“The Greater Phoenix Digital Library consortia is a partnership with one goal: to get more books into more hands,” Jeremy Reeder, Maricopa County Library District director and county librarian, said. “The fact that our community of readers is ranked one of the highest in the world is a testament to the support of our civic leaders and residents who continue to prioritize a strong library system in our growing county.”
The most popular book borrowed in 2023 from GPDL was Verity by Colleen Hoover. The top-circulating genre was fiction.
