SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — One man has been taken into custody and charged with stabbing four people at a bar in Scottsdale during a fight, according to city police.

Scottsdale police say the fight happened just after 1 a.m. on Saturday at the Playa Bar, which is located near the intersection of McDowell and Granite Reef roads.

Two people at the bar and two members of the bar's security staff were allegedly stabbed by 42-year-old Joseph Eschief. Eschief was also injured in the fight after being hit in the head with a barstool by one of the security staffers that police say he was fighting.

Police were able to take Eschief into custody after the fight. He and the four people who were stabbed were all taken to the hospital and treated. All injuries were non-life-threatening. Eschief was treated for a head injury and released from the hospital around 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Eschief will be booked into the Maricopa County Jail on multiple charges of aggravated assault. The security staffer who hit Eschief with the barstool will not be charged as police believe he was acting in self-defense.

Police do not believe anyone else was involved in the stabbings. However, two other people were taken into custody for a separate incident related to the stabbings.

27-year-old Antonio Eschief and 46-year-old Selena Dewey were both arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. They have both been booked into the Scottsdale City jail. They have been released but will have upcoming court dates.

Scottsdale police say they cannot confirm whether Antonio and Joseph Eschief are related and say none of the victims will be identified.
