3 dead in double murder, suicide in Prescott Valley

Upon arrival, police and fire personnel encountered an active fire and heard gunshots coming from inside the home.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — Three people were found dead after a shooting and fire in Prescott Valley, according to authorities.

Prescott Valley officials said the fire happened on Thursday in the 3100 block of Yavapai Road E. Officers responded to a home around 8:17 a.m. for reports of a woman screaming for help while gunshots were going off and a fire started at the home, police said. 

When police and fire officials arrived, they heard gunshots coming from the home, which was on fire. Police evacuated nearby residents and when shots were no longer heard, the fire was extinguished. 

Officials recovered three bodies from inside the home, according to officials.

Two female victims, ages 57 and 54, had multiple gunshot wounds and a 52-year-old man had one gunshot wound, police said.

Police said the investigation revealed this was a double murder and suicide. 

The incident is being investigated by the Prescott Valley Police Department and Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority. 

The names of the three victims have not been released.
