MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has recently seized a significant amount of illegal drugs from two houses located next to Frank Elementary School in Guadalupe.

Drug trafficking was suspected at the two homes in the area of Calle Magdalena and Calle Batoua when MCSO launched a series of investigations into the locations last summer.

After obtaining search warrants, investigators inspected the residences and reported finding 260 fentanyl pills, 36 baggies of heroin, one gram of methamphetamine and two firearms. Six arrest warrants were cleared during the investigation.

MCSO noted how the homes' close proximity to an elementary school created an additional public safety risk to the close-knit community.

"We want our community members to be able to live in a safe environment and our children to grow and learn in a safe and healthy space so they can thrive and reach their full potential," Sheriff Russ Skinner said in a statement.

Names of any suspects were not disclosed.
