SURPRISE, Ariz. — An elderly couple was found dead on June 20 in a Surprise residence.
The police department was dispatched to the area of Sunrise Boulevard and Goldwater Ridge Drive, located near the US 60, after a neighbor found two deceased subjects at a local residence.
Police said the deceased individuals have been identified as 79-year-old Shirley Germenis and 82-year-old Dionysios Germenis.
Shirley was shot in her upper body and Dionysios sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
Shirley had been restricted to using a wheelchair and required full-time medical care before her death. Police have classified the incident as a "murder-suicide."
