17-year-old girl killed in ATV crash in north Phoenix

PHOENIX — A 17-year-old girl has died following an ATV crash in north Phoenix, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Police Department said the crash happened early Monday morning at around 4 a.m. near 47th Avenue and Beardsley Road.

Police identified 17-year-old Edith Ochoa, the driver of the 2017 Canam ATV, as the victim in the crash.

A 20-year-old man who was riding as a passenger on the ATV was also injured in the crash. He is being treated at an area hospital. His injuries are non-life-threatening, the police department said.

Police said the ATV was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

The crash remains under investigation, according to police

"Impairment on the part of the driver is still under investigation," police said in a news release.
