PHOENIX – If you love doughnut and you love ice cream, you’re going to love a newer food concept near downtown Phoenix. So new, you could say it’s "novel."
Novel Ice Cream opened in March of 2017.
“It’s always try as many as you want,” said Brandon Douglas, who owns the shop with his wife. “We know you’re going to find your frozen soulmate among the 12 that we have.”
Some fan-favorites include: Bourbon Caramel Toffee Crunch, Cookie Monster, Madagascar vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.
“My wife and I realized that we couldn’t pass a doughnut or ice cream shop without stopping,” he said.
The two combined the two sweet treats making the ultimate sugar rush sandwich.
The red cottage shop is a part of the ThirdSpace neighborhood in the Grand Arts District. More specifically, Novel sits on the southeast corner of 11th and Grand avenues.
Some nights, there is a line out the door and around the corner and that’s because of the developing neighborhood and amazing community.
“We’ve never had to spend a dime on advertising,” said Douglas, “and that first push that all of our neighbors gave us has carried us into a situation where we never have to worry about placing an ad.”
It's a sweet escape you have to try if you ever get a sweet-tooth craving.
“We just want to be that little oasis where you don’t have to worry about anything,” he said.
