Thousands of taco lovers showed up to Salt River Fields in Scottsdale this weekend to attend the sixth annual Arizona Taco Festival.
More than 100,000 tacos were dished up from 50 different restaurants and food trucks from all over Arizona. There was every type of taco you could imagine and you could eat as many as your stomach could hold for $2 a pop.
All things tacos were celebrated this weekend as the Mexican street food was served up in variety. Patrons could get anything from veggie to chicken to carne asada and everything in between with creative and unusual concoctions from each place.
While tacos were the main attraction they weren't the only thing at the event. The family-friendly festival had cooking demonstrations, a live music stage, a kids area full of bounce houses and even a chihuahua beauty contest.
The chihuahua beauty contest was judged by a panel of three judges and based on the dogs costume originality, personality, enthusiasm and their "taco spirit." The winner received a special doggie gift basket full of treats, toys and more.
There was also Lucha Libre wrestling matches where two guys would enter the arena in the middle of the festival and duke it out. It was exciting to watch and drew hundreds of spectators.
Festival-goers also had the opportunity to watch cooking demonstrations, an art contest and a bartender flair competition.
The taco festival was a huge hit as hundreds of people filtered in throughout the day and indulged in all the tacos and margaritas they wanted.
