AVONDALE, Ariz. — The man who died following a shooting in Avondale early Saturday morning has been identified, police said. Hector Zepeda, 29, of Laveen, was shot and died. A second person was also injured in the shooting, police said.
Avondale police officers responded to reports of a shooting near 107th Avenue and Buckeye Road at 4 a.m. on Saturday, where callers reported someone was shot. When officers arrived at the scene, the found one man who was shot.
Police said they later learned another man related to the incident was transported to a local hospital prior police arrival. The first person transported to the hospital was pronounced deceased. The second person is in stable condition, police said.
Police did not release the identities of the two men who were shot or any other details regarding what led up to the incident.
