Passenger accused of shooting, killing driver in Tempe

Police arrested a man they said shot and killed another man Friday night in a car at Scottsdale and McKellips roads in Tempe.
Jose Bojorquez was arrested on suspicion of second degree murder.

Police arrested a man they said shot and killed another man Friday night in a car at Scottsdale and McKellips roads in Tempe.

Lt. Michael Pooley said detectives arrested 23-year-old Jose Bojorquez on Saturday morning. He was and booked into jail on a count of second-degree murder.

According to police, Bojorquez was in the passenger seat when he shot and killed Adrian Salazar, who was driving.

ID=25129217According to authorities, when police arrived at the scene of the death, they found Salazar dead in the driver's seat and his passenger -- later identified as Bojorquez -- extremely upset.

The car Salazar was driving struck another vehicle after he was shot, authorities said. The other car had minor rear-end damage and no one inside was seriously injured.

According to Pooley, detectives are continuing to investigate what led up to Bojorquez shooting Salazar. Currently, the motive is unknown.
