Skip breakfast and lose weight?

You've heard it over and over again: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What if you were told that's actually not true?

You've heard it over and over again: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What if you were told that's actually not true?

Some experts now are saying that skipping breakfast can actually help you lose weight.

Author and certified strength and conditioning specialist Gary Watson says there are three reasons to skip your morning meal:

1. Hormones need an extended fasting period – Hormones need time away from food to maximize fat burning
2. Intellectual eating window – If you can shorten the window from the moment you start to eat to your last meal, it will maximize weight loss
3. Less time to cheat – Less time spent in front of food means less time to sabotage

Watson says do yourself a favor: extend your fasting period. Break your fast a little later, maybe 10 or 11 a.m.

Start your day off with some black tea or black coffee and/or some water, he said. This will help you maximize fat burning.
