Marvel live action show comes to Phoenix

It's one of the most recognized brands in the world with some of today's most popular superheroes. This weekend, Marvel Universe takes over downtown Phoenix.
Marvel Universe Live comes to Phoenix. March 6, 2015.

It's not just about comic books anymore.

Marvel is one of the most recognized brands in the world with super heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America and Guardians of the Galaxy.

But you can't have super heroes without super villains. Phoenix is about to get both in a live action show.

Marvel Universe Live will entertain fans of all ages from March 6 to 8 at U.S. Airways Center.

"This is basically a comic book brought to life," said Madison Embrey, who portrays the role of Maria Hill, second in command of S.H.I.E.L.D., in the live show.

"And the greatest part about that is parents grew up reading these books and they want to pass along to their children. It's a way for them to bond. It's just so family oriented," Embrey said. "If you're just a fan of the Marvel empire then it's great for you too."

There's no need to be a hard-core comic book fan to take part. All you need is a love for fun and adventure unfolding in front of you. It's a stunt show and then some.

"Yes, we have everything from special effects to pyro to bikers coming in riding around, but it's a lot more than that," said Vincent DeComo, who portrays the role of the Green Goblin during the show. "It also has its own original story. You're looking at over 25 of your favorite super heroes and 'baddies' coming together. It's just a huge show for all ages."

Show times for the weekend include:

Friday, March 6 – 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, March 7 – 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.

Sunday, March 8 – 1:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m.
