Investigators are still trying to pinpoint what caused a fire to ignite in a Phoenix strip mall over the weekend.
No one was injured, but four businesses appear to be a complete loss.
12 News spoke with the owner of one store who is trying to keep a business alive that many thought disappeared in the digital age.
There are plenty of people out here who still count on the video store to satisfy their Friday night movie fix.
For the customers of Superstar Video feeding the fix just got harder.
"Everything was on fire, there were 30 fire trucks, cranes shooting water," said the assistant manager Acob Maertz.
When the fire broke our early Sunday morning in the strip mall near 7th Ave. and Osborne Road, it left Maertz in disbelief.
Now it's covered in debris, just about everything burned to ashes.
"Lots of people really upset, sad," said Maertz.
Superstar Video, Peggy's Fashion, Water and Ice Cream and a Metro PCS – all charred.
"We've lost 20,000 movies that we've been collecting," said Maertz. "1989 we moved to this location."
It's one of the few remaining vintage rental video stores still around.
A lot of inventory is gone. Some of it is replaceable, but not all of it, like original movies that are out of print.
"Like the Little Mermaid, it's a popular one," said Maertz.
Video stores don't dot the corners of most main streets anymore.
"I actually got teared up, because I was like it was part of my family," said Gwen J., a customer who lives nearby.
For some going to a video store remains more popular than video streaming sites like Netflix.
"They know your name. People don't know your name anymore, it's all on the computer and texting. It's old fashioned," said J.
This customer is willing to make the extra drive.
"To come here for the dollar Mondays if they still do it here," she said.
Those dollar Mondays will continue as the owners try to make plans for the future despite this mess.
"This is the worst thing that's ever happened," said co-owner Matt Mason.
They do have insurance, but they're not sure how much it will cover. They do hope to rebuild.
"We'll try to rise back up out of those ashes," said Mason.
As Phoenix fire continues to investigate, they're not ruling out anything.
