Ross Martin, Maricopa County probation officer, Feb. 2, 2015.

A Maricopa County juvenile probation-detention officer has been arrested after he allegedly pushed a teenage inmate into a wall at the Durango Juvenile Detention Facility on Jan. 21.

Court paperwork shows Juvenile Probation-Detention Officer Ross Martin, 42, was arrested for aggravated assault on a minor.

According to a probable cause statement, surveillance video shows the teenage inmate and Martin walking down a hallway inside the jail.

The video shows the suspect grabbing the detainee's arms and torso at which point the detainee moves away from the suspect and begins walking away from the suspect.

The suspect then walks behind the detainee, appears to grab the detainee's arms and and torso and pushes the detainee into a wall. The suspect then pins the detainee against the wall briefly.

The suspect then pulls the detainee to the ground and lays on top of him until corrections workers arrive.

The probable cause statement says a supervisor that reviewed the video thought the actions by Martin were "excessive." The supervisor also stated he did not see the detainee strike or kick the suspect.

A note found in the suspect's pocket alluded to the victim inflicting the head injuries upon himself.

Martin is set to appear in Maricopa County Superior Court for a status conference Feb. 17 and a preliminary hearing on Feb. 23.
