PRESCOTT, Ariz. A woman wanted for a murder 29 years ago is behind bars.
Shelly Harmon, 46, also known as Shelly Norgard, was recently arrested in Nevada for the 1988 murder of 19-year-old Pamela Pitts of Prescott.
Harmon waived extradition and was transferred to the Camp Verde Detention Center Tuesday. Harmon is charged with one count of first-degree murder and is being held on a $3 million cash bond.
The victim, Pamela Pitts was last seen on September 16, 1988 at a party outside of Prescott. Pitts and Harmon were roommates when the murder occurred.
Meantime, in 1991, Harmon was arrested and in 1993 she was convicted of murdering her boyfriend in Prescott. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
For many years, detectives suspected Harmon’s involvement in the Pitts murder. Members of the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office cold case division spent a great deal of time piecing together evidence and were finally able to link Harmon to the Pitts murder.
