YCSO Forest Patrol responded after the woman passed out during the hike.

Another hiker attempted life-saving measures on the woman before Sedona Fire arrived to continue trying to resuscitate the woman. She could not be saved, the sheriff's office said.

"It appears she suffered heat exhaustion [and] was not treated fast enough," according to the sheriff's office.

Foul play is not suspected in the woman's death, YCSO said.
