SEDONA, Ariz. — A woman is dead after a "devastating" fire broke out at the Sunset Mobile Home Park in Sedona, city fire officials said.
The structure fire started at a mobile home around 10:55 p.m. on Tuesday. Sedona police officers quickly evacuated nearby homes due to the fire's intensity.
When Sedona Fire District crews arrived, they found "significant" flames engulfing the home and nearby trees. Firefighters were told that someone might have still been inside. Firefighters were able to enter the home where they found an older adult woman in the back of the home. Although crews were able to get her out of the home, she later died at the hospital.
Crews were able to contain the fire before it could spread to other homes. No firefighters were injured, officials said.
Fire investigators are still working to learn the cause of the fire. The woman's identity wasn't released.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time. The Sedona Fire District remains committed to the safety and well-being of our community," the department said on Wednesday.
