PHOENIX — Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential candidate  Kamala Harris is expected to visit Arizona late next week, just days after announcing her pick for vice president, a campaign official has confirmed to 12News.

The Harris campaign confirmed Thursday, that Harris and her running mate will visit Phoenix on the evening of Friday, Aug. 9. Details on the location were not immediately released.

Harris' Valley visit is part of a battleground state tour to meet voters and highlight the stakes of this election.

Harris is expected to announce her running mate in Philadelphia Tuesday, Politico reported Tuesday evening. Afterwards, she will visit other swing states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, South Carolina and Wisconsin, Politco reported.

Various names have been floated for Harris' running mate, including Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly. However, the location of Tuesday's announcement — Philadelphia — has led to speculation that the state's governor Josh Shapiro, will be the vice presidential nominee.
