TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Arizona Police Department dismantled an unauthorized encampment on campus grounds and arrested two people affiliated with the University of Arizona after a protest Thursday night.
A statement from the university says the encampment, made from wooden pallets and assorted debris, appeared on university property after 5 p.m., violating campus policy.
The UA says warnings issued by university officials to remove the encampment and disperse were ignored
In response, University President Robert C. Robbins has implemented a zero-tolerance approach on enforcing the campus use policy, prioritizing the safety of the campus environment, students, faculty, and university-related activities.
The university says police vehicles were spiked and projectiles, including rocks and water bottles, were hurled at officers and university personnel Thursday evening.
Those who have violated the law are subject to arrest and prosecution.
